NO Session Control™ · FortiMind LLC
Quick Install Guide
Five steps take you from an empty Stream Deck + to a client controlling their own NeurOptimal® session. The NO Session Control profile is bundled with the plugin, so there is nothing to arrange by hand.
- Platform
- Windows 10 / 11 (64‑bit)
- Requires
- Stream Deck app 6.9+
TimeAbout 15 minutes, including one restart
This page installs the plugin, connects it to NeurOptimal® and walks you through your first deck-controlled session. The Getting Started guide covers what each of the 14 actions does, along with client tracking, analytics and the Asset Pack. NO Session Control works alongside your NeurOptimal® software; it is built by FortiMind LLC, not by Zengar Institute, and it changes nothing about how NeurOptimal® itself runs.
Before you begin
Unbox your Stream Deck + and set it beside your computer with the included cable, but leave it unplugged for now. Elgato's setup order is software first: you install the Stream Deck app in step 01, then plug the deck in at the end of it. There are no drivers to install either way. Windows recognizes the deck on its own.
The 9 keypad actions work on any model. The 5 dial actions need the LCD touch strip, which only the Stream Deck + has. Full requirements.
Your Stream Deck + is unboxed and next to your computer, still unplugged.
Install the Stream Deck app
NO Session Control runs inside Elgato's free Stream Deck app. The quickest route is the Microsoft Store: press the Windows key, type Microsoft Store, and open it. Look for this icon:
In the Store, search for Elgato Stream Deck and click Install. The listing is published by Corsair Memory, Elgato's parent company. That is the one you want. Stream Deck Mobile is a different product and won't run the plugin. Prefer a direct download? The same app lives at elgato.com/downloads.
You need version 6.9 or newer. A fresh download is comfortably past that, so this only matters if the app was already on this computer. An older version installs the plugin without any error and then never shows it, so check Settings → About first.
Now plug your Stream Deck + into a USB port on the computer. Windows recognizes it within a second or two: the keys light up, and the app draws them on screen.
Settings → About reads 6.9 or newer, and your deck's keys are lit.
Install the plugin
NO Session Control is sold on the Elgato Marketplace, listed under the maker FortiMind LLC. Elgato handles the purchase and the download, and there is no other route. When checkout finishes, the plugin arrives in your Downloads folder as a zip.
One thing has to be true before you start: the Stream Deck app from step 01 is running. The installer hands the plugin to the app that is already open, so nothing happens at all if the app is closed.
Everything from here down happens inside the zip. There is nothing to extract and no reason to reach for Extract All. Double-clicking is all the install needs.
- In your Downloads folder, find
com.fortimind.no3-ctrl.sdPluginwith the Type Compressed (zipped) Folder. - Double-click it. Windows opens the zip like any other folder, and you are now looking inside it.
- The file within is
com.fortimind.no3-ctrland its Type reads Stream Deck Plugin. Double-click it, and leave it exactly where it sits. - Click Install at the first prompt, then let the app work. Unpacking takes about a minute, and up to three on a slower computer.
- Click Install Profile(s) at the second prompt, which arrives together with the finished actions. This one takes under 30 seconds.
The two prompts, in the order they appear.
The second prompt is the NO Session Control profile. Cancel it and the plugin still installs, but your deck stays empty.
Two things arrive, one from each prompt.
The profile is bundled with the plugin and switches in whenever NeurOptimal® comes to the foreground. It fills 12 of the 14 actions: a Stream Deck + has exactly 8 keys and 4 dials. Play Video and the Volume Control dial ship as alternates; drag either into place if you prefer.
A key shows what it will do, not what the action is called. Launch NeurOptimal is the Play Session action, the red HELP bell is Call Tech, and Select Client is Client Selector. The names in the actions list are the ones this guide uses.
Once both prompts are done, finish with a restart. Right-click the Stream Deck icon in the system tray, choose Quit, then restart Windows. The app returns with the plugin and profile in place, and every key face drawn fresh.
After the restart, your deck's top-left key reads Launch NeurOptimal, not blank.
Turn on NO3 Integration
NO3 Integration ships turned off. Until you turn it on, Play Session and Pause Session do nothing.
Open the Stream Deck app again. If it did not reopen after the restart, look for it in the system tray. NeurOptimal® can stay closed for this step: the connection test reads your NeurOptimal installation on disk, not the running program.
- In the Stream Deck app, click your top-left key, the one reading Launch NeurOptimal. Its Property Inspector opens below the deck.
- Scroll down to NO3 Integration (plugin-wide). You'll pass a NeurOptimal Application Path field on the way. That one applies to this key alone. Keep going.
- Turn on Enable NO3 Integration.
- Check NO3 Installation Path. It shows
C:\zengarand that is right for a standard NeurOptimal® install. Change it only if yours lives elsewhere. Point it atNO.exeitself and the plugin uses the parent folder. - Click Test NO3 Connection. A green Connection verified reply appears just below the button.
You only do this once. The setting is plugin-wide, so every NO Session Control action on your deck picks it up. The proof sits at the very bottom of the panel: the status footer's dot turns green and its label flips from NO3 Integration Off to NO3 Integration Active.
The footer at the bottom of the panel reads NO3 Integration Active, with a green dot.
Add your first client
Sessions, moods and voice memos all attach to a client, so give the plugin at least one name before the first appointment. This takes under a minute.
- In the Stream Deck app, click the Select Client key (bottom row, second from the left). Its Property Inspector opens.
- Under Add a Client, type a first and last name. Date of birth is optional, and the session package can stay on its default. Click Add Client.
- A newly added client becomes the active client automatically, and their name spreads across the deck as the keys pick it up.
The Your Clients list below the form manages the roster from then on: Select makes someone the active client, Archive hides them without deleting their history. On the deck itself, a short press of the key cycles through the roster.
If you skip this step, nothing breaks: the plugin creates a Guest client the moment a session needs one. But those records land under Guest instead of a name, so add real clients before you start relying on the analytics.
Your client's name is showing on the deck.
Run your first session
Nothing about your NeurOptimal® routine changes. Open NeurOptimal, pick the client, and start the session exactly as you always have. The deck does the rest.
- Launch NeurOptimal. The moment it comes to the foreground, your Stream Deck switches to the NO Session Control profile on its own.
- Select the client and start the session in NeurOptimal, as usual.
- Within a few seconds the deck picks it up. The Play key turns teal, and the client now holds their own controls: pause, volume, mood tracking, voice memos and the red HELP key.
Play and Pause act as one unit: they share session state with the Session Timer dial, so whichever key the client presses, every face updates together. The Launch NeurOptimal key works the other way around. It brings NeurOptimal up and starts the session for you.
A session started in NeurOptimal lights up the deck within a few seconds.
You're done
0 of 6All six true, and your room is ready for clients. Ticks are remembered on this computer, so you can step away and pick up where you left off.
If any box is still empty, the chart below will tell you why.
Six for six. Your room is ready.
If something's wrong
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Double-clicking the plugin file does nothing | The Stream Deck app wasn't running | Open the Stream Deck app, then double-click com.fortimind.no3-ctrl inside the zip again. |
| Plugin isn't in the actions list | Stream Deck app older than 6.9 | Settings → About. Update, then restart it from the system tray. |
| The second install prompt never appeared | The plugin is still unpacking its files | A minute is normal, three on a slower computer. Leave the app open. If it never comes, run the installer again; both prompts run again. |
| Deck is blank | The Install Profile(s) prompt was canceled | Double-click the plugin file in the zip again, and accept the second prompt this time. |
| Test NO3 Connection fails | NO3 Installation Path isn't your NeurOptimal® folder | Point it at the folder holding NO.exe (C:\zengar on a standard install) and test again. |
| Play Session does nothing, or the deck ignores a running session | NO3 Integration is off | Go back to step 03. The panel's footer should read NO3 Integration Active. |
